Making A Difference
Fashion Show & Awards Luncheon
In 1983, Soroptimist International of Oceanside had its first Making
A Difference Luncheon to honor local women who had made a difference in
their communities. Each year In June, women are honored in the following
categories:
- "Woman of Distinction," someone who has
made outstanding achievements through her professional or volunteer
activities relating to at least one of the Soroptimist International
programs of service. 2008 honoree: Loretta Ames.
- "Woman Helping Women," someone who has
effectively used her resources, talents and influence to help other
women achieve their potential. 2008 honoree: Marva Bledsoe.
- "Organization Advancing the Status of Women & Children,"
a business or organization that has used its position to promote recognition
of women's and children's issues. 2008 honoree: Rae Arnold for the Get On The Bus program that provides a reunion for incarcerated women and their children.
